That's the coolest scorpion I've ever seen. Great shots, thanks.

Cool Re: 0.1 Androctonus mauritanicus

I have to second that. We have a couple of Emperors but they don't look like they have been pounded out of metal. Too freakin' cool!

Thanks for the comments guys! Id have to agree with you all as theyre one of the nicest looking scorpions out there. Nothing better than a fat ol' metasoma curved over a matte-black body. But, with that being said, that big ol' metasoma signifies danger, and dangerous these are. These carry an observed .31 LD50, which is second to only the Leiurus quinquestriatus (worlds deadliest scorpion--based on toxicity alone). It goes w/o saying that these demand the utmost respect...

Oh man. I thought we got past that McDonalds thing... LMAO

Speaking of McDonalds, looks like your mauritanicus has been sneaking to Mickey D's on Tuesdays for their 25 cent Hamburger specials... LOLz

That's a bit like falling for the most expensive car in the lot... before seeing the price.

I suppose I've got some protocol to learn before venturing into these waters. I'm betting that experience isn't something you want after you need it with these guys. heheh

I keep looking at them and my jaw keeps dropping open! Amazing.

These are very hardy and easy to keep. In fact this is my favorite species.

Id agree with Brian, Clocker. Very easy to keep and great looking. These are one of my personal favorites too. Theyre becoming a bit harder to find lately, but I do recall that Brian is trying to breed these I think.

Someday, I'll have the confidence to keep these safely. Oh but they are beautiful. I can't get the images out of my head.
