Found this awesome wolf spider crawling on the side of my house yesterday. It measures 2 1/2 inches.

Nice! If the underside of the abdomen is black it may be Hogna carolinensis.

That's kinda what I was thinking too Wade. I'll try to get a peak at the abdomen.

The abdomen is light brown/tan on the bottom with black spots. Also, I think it may be a mature male. But I'm not quite sure what the palps of a mature wolf spider are supposed to look like.

Hogna aspersa male has spotted venter. your specimen resembles Hogna antelucana dorsally, but antelucana is black underneath.
