Ugh. I feel like such a newb every time I post!! Please forgive my novice! :P

I was just curios about my slings color. My Brachypelma albopilosum sling molted about 3 weeks ago. It was really weird actually because I gave him his usual cricket drum stick which he ate for a little while, then went in a corner and molted right side up. He didn't finish his food, but decided during his meal it was time for some extra room I guess. HA. Anyways he's eaten twice since then, and I notice that his color is changing again like it did right before he molted last time. He's a little fatty too! I'm assuming the color change is normal, but can I already be expecting another molt so soon? He had a large black spot on his opisthosoma, which is now becoming entirely black. I'm not too worried, more excited actually, but would love to make sure everything is alright.

Thanks for reading!

We have no solid rules regarding molt frequency, for that size animal it could be a year or a few weeks. Go with your observations and maybe back off feeding until you're sure what is going on. In this hobby we are all noobs, even Stan learns new things.

I have some Brachypelmas and lasiodoras. When young, they molted monthly, as the got older, they have slowed down.

Sounds exactly like my B. albopilosum right before it molts. Don't worry about weird feeding and molting schedules. My B. vagans molted twice on me only days after eating.

Especially Stan! And, sometimes he also finds out that he was wrong, too! (Nobody's perfect.)

Oh well. Count the day lost that you don't catch **** for something.
