It had to happen at some point that some of our first (and most loved) tarantulas move on the big pasture where gravy covered crickets run wild. This one hurts a bit more than usual. Spook, our first A.avic, has left for the big journey. She was our third tarantula ever, and I got her already as an adult from Chris (Krazy8s) in 2005. He had raised her from a wee little s'ling. So she must have been somewhere in the 10+ years age range, pretty good for an arboreal. She had slowed down over the last few months, and I found her dead this morning.
I'll post a few pictures from the good days later, but you can see her cute toes in my avatar picture.

Just found one of her cuter pictures Here is her cool home - I never changed her container, so she lived in this tube until she died. She just kept adding and improving! And yes, she did have a busy dating life

Awwww....my deepest sympathies, Auntie A. It's so hard losing the ones that have been with us for so long. Such lovely pictures...she was a real beauty.
*hugs*

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Since she had been with me this long I have quite a few stories to tell about her, maybe around the campfire at the ATS Con...
It was just odd to wander into the spider room this morning (yes, picture me in a robe & fuzzy slippers and a cup of tea in my hands), and say Good Morning to everyone, just to notice the big empty space where her large enclosure had been. It's a BIG empty space, both on the shelf and in my heart.... Now I have to figure out who is "worthy" enough to move into that space.

Aw, Anette, I am so sorry to see this. I am so sad for you. Spook is most definitely in tarantula heaven right now making the most fantastic web tube mansion and chomping on tasty teriyaki crickets. HUGS!!!
