Olivia has been in her new setup/substrate for a while now. It took her some time before she would let her girly feet touch the coir (poor thing) but she did become accustomed to it and began eating (gnoshed on some crickets and a nice sized hisser nymph - this was well over a month after she molted). She has now refused food twice so I am sure that will be it for another year :green:

She had laid down a small, light mat near her water dish and I just noticed today that it is all rolled up in a big ball- dinner is done! I am guessing she is "cleaning house?" She used to be on repti-bark (for over a year) and had laid down quite a bit of "floor" webbing. There was one time she was "digging" and in hindsight I wonder if she was trying to do this-clean up- but due to the substrate it was more difficult and the coir being so light her housekeeping was a breeze!

I think I read about this behavior before but have never seen it, at least not so dramatic(!) and wondering if I should be her maid and remove it? Can't imagine she wants it and in her new space it sort of takes up room. For scale, her water bowl is about 4.75" dia.

Either way and everything will be fine. I clean stuff up sorta rarely.

if it's easily accessible I remove their molts, if not, I leave them alone :)

Hi Abby,
No, it isn't her molt, that is long gone (and intact :) ) it is just a ball of webbing she laid down while in the last couple weeks. it's just that it is rather large and takes up a good amount of space. I tried to show it in the pic, it is the big thing in front of her water bowl

Ohhhh hehehe, I would leave it if it's just web and coir. :D
I try not to mess with their decorating choices, hehe :)

Maybe you could take it out but just hang on to it for a while. If she notices it's gone & starts looking around for it, put it back. If not, toss it. : ) That's what I would do...

my new to me G rosea molted a week before I got it and had a thick web carpet in a part of its home when I got it (I got it with its home). I've had it a few weeks now, and just today it rolled up the whole thing. I was thinking of taking it out. now it's sitting on it. I don't know if it wants it that way, or if it just wants the area to be substrate-y again and should just take it out?

My rose has been building web carpets on the substrate, but they're invisible until I stir up the substrate. I guess this is normal for them. I don't think she's due for a molt. She ate 3 waxworms yesterday and would probably have taken a fourth if I'd offered it. :)
