Spiders used to creep me out beyond belief. I hated spiders no matter what size. If i saw one I had to leave the room until someone took care of it. One day I decided to try to get over this fear. I heard somewhere that singing a non scary song about what you fear can help your nerves. So I sang songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider which was one of my favorite when I was little. I started by looking at spider pictures and playing with spider toys. If I started to get scare I started singing to ease my nervous and it did help. Eventually I was able to watch videos and pictues of spiders with out fear. Then I move onto looking at spiders in real life. I started small, just watching a spider spin a web or climb a wall. It was scary at first but singing and perserverance helped me get used to them. Eventually I was able to hold a small spider. I shook at first but I started getting used to the spider. I started to actually think that spiders are actually cool and some are even cute. Now I actually like spiders.

I don't know if that would help my fear since even the song Itsy Bitsy Spider scares me.
The song need not be about spiders. Just choose one that is simple, easy and moves you back toward a feeling of safety and relaxation while you watch the stimulant (spider.) Memories/fears are just neuro patterns in the brain and can be over laid with different ones.
