Hello all,

Is there any way we could start a message board that keeps track of changes to specific species of innvertebrates? I suppose it might not be a very active Message Board. It seems though that it would give us all a place to go to keep updated on changes being made to different species etc and would make it all easy to keep track of and follow. Maybe it wouldnt? Any feedback on this idea is appreciated.

I was thinking about the work being done on Aphonopelma and wondered if we had anything like that. Maybe I didnt dig deep enough, but I didnt notice it in browsing.

I was doing research on Avicularia Arabica and found an article mentioning there would be changes occuring to this group in 2013. This find only made the idea sound even better.

Im quite excited about it!

What are other pros I havent considered? What about the cons?

Has this been tried before? Does this already exist and I havent come across it yet?

As in taxonomic changes? Zoltan is the king of keeping track of many of these issues. If he'd like to chime in, I'm willing to discuss it and see what the board feels like. Personally, I do not worry about anything not on Platnick's list. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's far more resilient to some of the idiocy which pops up in the hobby and the boards/fb.

I will tell you that the ICZN makes bad science pretty easy to publish, and then someone has to come along and fix things. Just look at... oh, every genus.

Well the hope was that if the information is being found by...oh...I dunno...folks like you and/or Wade, the information would be accurate and reliable and not some nonsense ;).

And yes if thats the right word, taxonomic change. What Brent is doing with Aphonopelma =).

It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but the announcement of most new theraphosid related articles are submitted in the "BTS Theraphosid News" section on the BTS Forum.
